On Network Selection for Secondary Users in Cognitive Radio Networks

چکیده
In this paper, we present a network flow based approach for network selection for secondary users in cognitive radio networks. Most approaches in the current literature on cognitive radio do not consider network selection. We present a network flow framework for network selection. We show that our approach can enable re-assignment of networks to secondary users and also re-assignment of channels to secondary users within the same network. The assignments and re-assignments take into account, the interference caused to primary users, the price each secondary user is willing to pay and the quality of service (QoS) obtained by each secondary user.

Submitted: May 9, 2013; Accepted: Jun 16, 2013; Published: Jun 30, 2013 Abstract: In this paper, we consider a dual-hop Cognitive Radio Networkthat consists of a secondary sourcedestination pair assisted by cognitive relays in their communication. The whole network is operating in an underlay mode near a primary user. Underlay networks allow simultaneous primary and secondary transmissions but ...

The demand for the wireless spectrum has been increased with the increase in usage of multimedia applications. The available spectrum can be efficiently used with the help of cognitive radio technology. In this paper, spectrum selection techniques in the case of cognitive radio networks are studied. Channel sharing and channel contention problems arise when multiple secondary users tend to sele...
متن کاملSpectrum Sensing Data Falsification Attack in Cognitive Radio Networks: An Analytical Model for Evaluation and Mitigation of Performance Degradation
Cognitive Radio (CR) networks enable dynamic spectrum access and can significantly improve spectral efficiency. Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) exploits the spatial diversity between CR users to increase sensing accuracy. However, in a realistic scenario, the trustworthy of CSS is vulnerable to Spectrum Sensing Data Falsification (SSDF) attack. In an SSDF attack, some malicious CR users deli...
متن کاملA Bayesian Approach to Service Selection for Secondary Users in Cognitive Radio Networks
In cognitive radio networks where secondary users (SUs) use the time-frequency gaps of primary users' (PUs) licensed spectrum opportunistically, the experienced throughput of SUs depend not only on the traffic load of the PUs but also on the PUs' service type. Each service has its own pattern of channel usage, and if the SUs know the dominant pattern of primary channel usage, then they can make...
متن کاملSpectrum Leasing and Relay Selection in Multiuser Cooperative Cognitive Radio Networks
—In this paper, we consider multiple primary and multiple secondary users cooperative cognitive radio networks, in which the primary users (PUs) lease a portion of their spectrum to the secondary users (SUs) for some revenue, and in return the SUs play as relays and help forward the data of the Pus in exchange for being granted spectrum opportunities. Both the PUs and SUs aim to maximize their...
